One of the things I loved about writing on smartphones and not other general technology related products was that even the cool kids couldn’t pick on me. Wherever our pockets go our smartphones go and that’s also the case for just about everyone who dreamed of picking on you for being a geek. Smartphones also come with the added element of hacking and installing lots of cool stuff — just like a custom ROM.
The OrionOS custom ROM is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow — currently the latest version of the Android operating system you can have running on your device. Do not worry about the additional minor updates like the Android 6.0.1 as they do not come with many features. The OrionOS is great for anyone who wants to overclock or underclock the central processing unit to their liking. Furthermore, the OrionOS custom ROM gives users a great deal of features, including a weather widget available from the status bar, more battery options so you can choose your own battery style, the CyanogenMod recovery lock screen, shows the applications that are running on your device only, and still plenty of more features.
Here is everything you need to install the OrionOS on your third-generation Motorola Moto G smartphone so you can tweak it, use more features, change the style and remove the bloatware:

The steps in this guide to install the OrionOS ROM are given assuming you are using TWRP as your custom recovery. You can expect the steps to vary slightly if you are using a different custom recovery such as the ClockworkMod Recovery.
You must have a custom recovery installed on the Moto G 2015 smartphone before you use this guide. Moreover, you must have rooted the Moto G 2015 before you can think about installing this custom ROM.

- Download the OrionOS ROM zip file from the files section above and copy or drag it over to the desktop from its default downloads folder.
- Connect the third-generation Motorola Moto G smartphone to the computer with the USB cable you would normally use to charge the battery on the device.
- Copy the OrionOS custom ROM zip file from the desktop to the internal storage SD card on your phone.
- Unplug the Moto G 2015 from the computer once you know you have the OrionOS ROM file on the SD card.
– you want the ROM to be at the root of the SD card which means keeping it at the topmost level of the folder and not hiding it in one of the sub folders. - Turn off the Moto G smartphone by holding in the Power button and reboot to recovery mode.
– you can use the hardware button combination for recovery mode or the Quick Boot application from the Google Play Store for recovery mode. The stock recovery mode will boot your Motorola Moto G smartphone to the custom recovery mode if you have replaced the stock recovery for a custom version. - Tap on the Backup button and take the NANDroid Backup from the menu.
- Tap on the Wipe button and wipe the data and apply the factory reset so you are ready to load your new ROM file.
- Tap on the Install button from the main menu and follow the instructions to upload your OrionOS custom ROM zip file from the internal storage SD card.
- Wait until your ROM has finished installing and then tap on the option to reboot the system from the main menu.
In conclusion, that’s how to install the OrionOS custom ROM on the third-generation Motorola Moto G smartphone.
