The Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 LTE variant of the smartphone is finding the official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update arriving over the air (OTA). The new firmware build number is XXUHOA7 and the official firmware comes as I9505XXUHOA7. The I9505 marks the International ID model number for the Sammy Galaxy S4 overseas.
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop comes with all the same great feature that we saw in the original 5.0 release including the fantastic material design UI, the same material design available from the application drawer, smarter notifications, lock screen notifications, screen pinning, tap and go NFC payments plus heaps more. You’ll also find Android Beam, a smoother and faster ROM thanks to Android dropping the old Dalvik system and changing to Android RunTime. There’s still more, including a new battery saver mode with up to 90 minutes better battery power, multiple device sharing, Guest Mode, Priority Mode, the ability to pick up tasks where you left off with apps, music and more. You’ll still have the new Easter Egg that’s similar to the hit iOS game Flappy Bird which was later pulled from the official Apple app store because the developer didn’t like people wasting so much time playing the game.
Some extra highlight features we didn’t mention include the new Quick Settings menu, improved Google security which makes root access harder to find for third-party developers, camera feature updates and compatibility for your Android Wear wearable technology, cars and television sets.
Without a doubt, the best feature out of Lollipop thus far is the inclusion of material design. Users will now see enhanced graphics that almost look 3D without any hardware adjustments to your screen resolution. Since Lollipop with the material design UI made its first appearance last year, we are also seeing heaps of application from Google Play coming with compatibility now, so it’s a great time to find the software update on your phone.
The official I9505XXUHOA7 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is soon to go live around Europe and other parts of the world not including the United States. According to popular sources, it’s the German’s who can expect this OTA software update arriving first and from there it will trickle down the list to other places.
We recommend sourcing the official file to download and install via the Samsung Odin application which you can find here if you have root access. You should not accept the official over the air signals with root access as it might soft brick your device. Furthermore, we’ll be providing the guide so you can achieve root access in just a few moments time. Check back soon after updating for the guide.
