This year’s HTC One flagship — the new M8 — is receiving a fresh over the air update namely the 3.28.401.6 software build that updates the smartphone to a new version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat. As you know, this marks the final stages of the chocolate software and next up is the Android 5.0 ‘L’ coming our way that is sure to make a lot of noise. Nevertheless, the manufacturer of smartphones and tablets out of Taiwan is bringing a sweet new feature that enhances the video and photo shooting with the new ‘Eye Experience’.

With it, users can now watch four different people during a video chat, take recordings of the people in front of you and your own camera at the same time, and embedding two different pictures at the same time to make a warped image for fun. The three fresh features are called the face Fusion, split capture and face tracking. The new camera application now presents Zoe camera, Selfie, Split capture, photo booth and pan 360 options from the interface.

We had the pleasure of exposing you to loads of great features in past KitKat builds such as the 4.4.4 version. With it came wireless cloud printing, white status bars with white WiFi, battery and signal strength meters, improved landscape keyboard and full screen album art from the lock screen. However, the later stages including the Android 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 don’t hold any great value for features. Perhaps that’s why the guys from the factory decided to let a few more features out of the bag.

Furthermore, we know that HTC are bringing out two new smartphones namely the Desire Eye and the M8 Eye. The names of the phones were related to the whopping megapixel coming from the front-facing ‘selfie’ camera. There’s no news of whether these names are connecting together for more reasons.

This is an official firmware update issued by the manufacturer and phone carrier. Therefore you will lose root access and any custom ROM or custom firmware that was installed. users of custom builds will not receive any OTA notification since the signals are disrupted. You will have to install the file manually.

The upgrade is currently rolling out in stages to people in India, Turkey, Georgia, Finland and other parts of Europe. We are not seeing any US residents with this yet. if you don’t want to keep looking at the notification panel you can navigate your way to the Settings > About Device > Software updates and check that way. others download the file manually for Europe here.
