Taking screenshots on devices running Android is one of the most popular features. It became so popular that Android developers decided they would include it as a feature after the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software version. At the time of writing this post, we are now up to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and we still have the same feature built into our operating system. We use that screenshot feature by pressing a button combination which we will teach you during the guide.
There is more than one way to take a screenshot on the Sony Xperia Z5 premium smartphones and we’ll teach you several of the ways. The hardware key combination works for all devices, whether the device is locked or unlocked, rooted or unrooted and running Lollipop, Marshmallow, KitKat, Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich.

Using the hardware keys:
Everyone with this device can use the hardware key combination. However, some people do not like the positions of the buttons and opt to try one of the other methods.
- To take a screenshot using the keys, navigate to Menu > Settings > About Device and check your software version is above Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. For this device, that is everyone unless you manually downgraded.
- Navigate to where the picture is you want to capture.
- Press the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time.
The trick here is to make sure you press the buttons at the same time and keep holding them until you hear the camera shutter sound signifying the picture has been taken. This typically happens in less than a second. You should also notice the screen flash.
Using an app from the Google Play Store:
There are various apps available from the Google Play Store. We counted at least ten well worth a mention and some of them can do more than just take your screenshot. Some popular names include Screenshot Ultimate (Ice Cold Apps), Screenshot, Screen Grabber, Screenshot Snap Free, Perfect Screenshot (Classic), Screen Capture, Capture Screen, Easy Screenshot (Capture/memo), Screenshots Simple and Take Screenshot. As you can see there are apps with keyword stuffing designed to come up in the Google Play search box which is great but at the same time makes it difficult to remember which one you like.
Each app we mentioned has its own unique feature. Some of them have different trigger points and positions for taking the screenshots, while others can do more than just screenshots, like record the screen too. Find which one you like best and keep it as an app on your device.
