Walton might not be a known brand in the smartphone in the world that can rival the likes of Samsung, but it does have developers looking after it for root access.

Once you root the Walton Primo device, you can install all of the same apps you could install on any other rooted device, including any device in the Samsung range.

Files You Need

  1. Download the latest version of Framaroot found in the first page of this XDA Developer thread.
  2. You are voiding the warranty on your Walton device by following this guide. You can get that warranty back again if you unroot the Walton smartphone.
  3. You must know how to install APK files on your Android operating system before you can use this guide.
  4. You can install the best file managers for Android from our file manager list.

Rooting the Walton Primo GH

  1. Download the Framaroot APK to the computer.
  2. Those of you using Windows will find it in the Downloads folder.
  3. Open the Downloads folder and transfer it over to the desktop. Do not extract or unzip the file.
  4. Make sure that you have the Unknown Sources option enabled on your Walton Primo GH by navigating to the Menu > Settings > Security > Unknown Sources.
  5. Connect the Walton Primo GH to the computer.
  6. Transfer the Framaroot APK file over to the root of the SD card.
  7. Unplug it from the computer once you know the rooting exploit is now on your SD card.
  8. Install the APK on your device using a file manager or any other way you can install the APK file.
  9. Navigate to the Walton application drawer where you normally find the new apps after you download them from the Google Play Store.
  10. Tap the Framaroot icon from your app drawer and open the one-click rooting app.
  11. Choose the Boromir option from the front page of Framaroot.
  12. Wait as that same Boromir exploit grants the rooting permissions to your device.
  13. Soon you will see the “Success :-)” message on the display of the device.
  14. That same screen tells you to reboot your device after you exit the application.
  15. Once you reboot your Walton device, install the root checker app from the Google Play Store and check that your smartphone is in fact rooted and ready to install rooted apps.

Now you may start installing any of the root-requiring apps from the Google Play Store. You might like to start with the BBQScreen app.
