If you are rocking Sammy’s entry-level Tizen OS Galaxy Z1 smartphone and wanting to root it you’ve come to the right place. Read the steps after the jump to root the Samsung Z1 using an easy One-Click tool.
We recommend you take a backup of the current OS data before choosing to flash one of the rooting files below for when you wish to apply a factory reset to get out of a boot-loop or any other potential issue. Doing so means you can restore that data you backed up. You can use the built-in backup feature on the Sammy smartphone or you can download any third-party applications from the Google Play Store. Helium for Android is really popular.

Details of Note
- You’ll need to have a Windows PC to use the rooting programs listed below; they do not work on the Apple Mac.
- Enable the USB Debugging Mode from the Developer Options menu. If you don’t see any Developer Options menu there, it probably needs unlocking. Do that by tapping on the build number seven times from the About Device menu.
Files you need:
Download the Samsung USB Drivers for mobile phones. Remember to reboot the Windows computer you are downloading the USB drivers on for them to work on the Z1 smartphone. You can’t just download the USB Drivers, connect the Z1 to the computer and expect it will work. The PC requires a reboot in between.
Download either the Eroot tool from here or the Root Genius from here. The Root genius is the more common method and we have the steps for that in detail during the guide.
Rooting the Samsung Z1 with Tizan OS
- You only need to pick one of the files above and download it direct to the desktop of the Windows PC.
- Now extract the package and double-click the executable file inside to run the rooting program.
- Those using the Root Genius program should look at the bottom left side of the program after it launches on the desktop to view that your device is connected.
- Those using the Eroot tool should look for different on-screen instructions after running the program. All you need to do is follow what’s on the screen.
- If you cannot get your device to read as connected after plugging it in to the PC with the USB cable, you’ll need to install up-to-date USB drivers for that. You can get that from the Samsung USB Drivers.
- Look on the screen for a button that says “Root” and wait until the system internals are opened on your device before unplugging and closing the program.
- Verify you have the root access you want on the Z1 by installing the root checker app from Google Play.
