If you’re one of those users who can’t wait to root their phones as soon as they buy them, here’s a guide that shows how you can root the Samsung Galaxy Core Max and get the actual powers out of it. Once you’ve rooted your phone, you’ll be able to install so-called root-requiring apps that help you change a lot of things on your device. From custom icons to even custom ROMs, root can help you do everything.
Here’s how to root your phone:
Files You Need
1. Download Samsung USB Drivers and install them on your computer. Your computer needs these drivers to recognize your device.
2. Download CF-Root to your computer. You’ll flash it on your phone to achieve root-access. The Odin tool is bundled with this archive.
3. These are the steps to root Samsung Galaxy Core Max with model number SM-G5108Q.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Core Max
1. First of all, extract the actual usable files from the CF-Root archive by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here. It should extract the files for you.
2. When the files are extracted, double-click on Odin and it will launch.
3. In the Odin, there’s an option that says PDA. Click on it and select the CF-Root file you extracted from the archive to your computer.
4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s checkmarked in the Odin.
5. Checkmark both Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.
6. Turn off your phone.
7. Reboot your phone into download mode by holding down Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons at the same time.
8. A prompt will appear asking if you really wish to go into the download mode. Hit Volume UP and you’ll be taken to the download mode.
9. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
10. Odin should now be able to recognize your phone.
11. Click Start in the Odin and wait for it to flash the required root files on your device.
12. When the files are flashed, your phone will automatically reboot.
13. You’re done.
Your Samsung Galaxy Core Max is now rooted. It can now run root-requiring apps and you can eventually flash a custom recovery on it when one becomes available.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Core Max means you are in full control over what happens on the operating system. The person who is logged into the root user account so to speak gets to uninstall anything that is on the operating system already, and they get to install anything they want also.
The root user accounts for Android is the same as the administrator’s account for Windows. The only difference is that when you turn on your Android phone or tablet, you don’t need to log into any account. Instead, you are already the root user by default; it’s because the way it works is a bit different.
Most rooting guides out there are to do with installing SuperSU which is what grants the root access. It is an app, and it will prompt your display with a message each time you install any app that needs root access before it can run. It is the SuperSU that then allows it to have the root access after you confirm that it is an app that you want to let through to the root of the system. That is essentially how the root user account is accessed.
With Windows computer, you always log into the admin account in the beginning and then that allows you to install anything that you want automatically. It’s unclear whether that was by design or necessity but it makes lots of sense to have it that way for Android for security reasons.
