Most of us find it annoying when we read things like “check out USB Debugging Mode” during a guide, but it makes plenty of sense to have the USB Debugging Mode off when you do not need it going.
One way to make sure thing like USB Debugging Mode are off when not in use is by installing the ADB Toggle (ROOT/USB) application. The ADB Toggle is only available for rooted users after you complete this guide and learn how to root the Samsung Galaxy A3 device.
Files You Need
- Download the SM-A300YZ CF-Root exploit from this page.
- Download the universal ADB Drivers from this page.
- You can download the rest of the Odin versions from this page. It is advised that if you cannot get the guide to work, you should install a different Odin version with a different number. Sometimes the Odin flashing tool can unpredictably not want to flash for some devices.
- The following guide is made to root the Samsung Galaxy A3 smartphone running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. You should downgrade to Android 4.4.4 KitKat if you are running an Android OS that is newer like Android 5.0 Lollipop. That way you do not risk soft-bricking your device or getting it stuck in a boot loop.
- You should follow this guide on the Galaxy A3 with the model number SM-A300YZ only. You can anytime check your A3 model number by navigating to the Settings > About Device > Model Number.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy A3
- Download the S3 rooting exploit to the Windows PC and transfer it from the default Downloads folder to the desktop. You should be able to click and drag it from the Downloads folder to the desktop.
- Right-click the mouse over the file and select the “extract here” option from the menu.
- Double-click your mouse on the Odin executable file to get the Odin user-interface opening on your Windows PC.
- Turn off the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone and reboot in download mode so you can flash files.
– download mode is Power + Home + Volume Down after starting with the A3 off only. - Connect the Galaxy A3 A300YZ to the computer using the USB cable.
- The drivers are working if you can see a color change in the ID: COM port the Odin user-interface. You might need to download them if you haven’t already, or reboot the Windows computer to get them working.
- Click the AP or the PDA button and browse the desktop for the A300YZ CF-Root file.
- Leave the Odin default settings as they are after opening the new Odin version for the first time.
- Click the Start button found from the Odin user-interface and Odin will flash that CF-Root exploit on your Galaxy A3 device.
- Wait until you can see the pass message before unplugging from the computer.
- Reboot the Samsung Galaxy A3 manually if it does not reboot automatically via the Odin flashing tool.
Now you can start installing your root-requiring apps from the Google Play Store. many prefer starting with the root checker app to make troubleshooting that much easier.
