Elephone P7000 has been successfully rooted using the ADB commands method and if you happen to have this phone, you can also root yours by just following the following steps.
Once these steps are done, you will have a phone that has proper access to the root.
Here you go:
Files You Need
- This tutorial has been written keeping the Windows version of ADB in mind. If you are on Linux or Mac, the steps for your system might slightly vary.
- Make sure that Universal ADB drivers are installed on your computer. If they are not, install them first.
- Download Root Package to your computer. It contains all the files you need in order to root your Elephone P7000.
Rooting the Elephone P7000
- Extract files from Root Package over to your desktop by right-clicking on the Root Package archive and selecting Extract here. Make sure all of the extracted files are there on your desktop.
- Head to Menu->Settings->About phone on your phone and tap on Build number for 7-8 times and it will say you are a developer. It should unlock the developer menu on your phone.
- Now head to Menu->Settings->Developer options on your phone and turn on USB debugging.
- Head over to the Google Play store and download and install the SuperSU app on your phone. Do not launch the app just yet.
- Plug in your phone to your computer using a suitable USB cable.
- Launch a command prompt window on your desktop by holding down Shift on your keyboard and right-clicking anywhere on the screen and selecting Open command window here.
- When the command prompt window launches, type in the following commands one by one hitting Enter after each:
adb kill-server
adb root
adb connect localhost:5037
adb shell setenforce 0
adb shell mkdir -p /data/local/tmp/supersu/arm64
adb push su /data/local/tmp/supersu/arm64/
adb push supolicy /data/local/tmp/supersu/arm64/
adb push libsupol.so /data/local/tmp/supersu/arm64/
adb push update-binary-adb-arm64-v8a-21 /data/local/tmp/supersu/
adb shell chmod 0755 /data/local/tmp/supersu/update-binary-adb-arm64-v8a-21
adb shell /data/local/tmp/supersu/update-binary-adb-arm64-v8a-21 - When all of the above commands have been executed, launch the SuperSU app that you earlier installed on your phone.
- Let the SuperSU app perform its tasks.
- You should now be fully rooted!
Your Elephone P7000 should now be rooted and you can confirm the same by using the Root Checker app on your phone. If the app says you have root access, you do have root access.
Now that you are rooted, you are only one step away from being able to flash a custom ROM on your phone. Now go ahead and get a custom recovery flashed on your Elephone P7000 to then be able to flash custom ROMs, custom kernels, custom zips, and so on, on your phone. All of those flashable zips should then be compatible with your phone once you have installed a custom recovery on it.
If you are not yet ready to install a custom recovery, you can use the root-requiring apps meanwhile. These apps are also available on the Google Play store and they require your phone to be rooted in order for them to perform their tasks. The reason these apps require root is because they go as far as to your system files to help you customize your phone the way you want. That is why they need these extra permissions unlike the ordinary apps that you download on your phone.
