If you are running Android 4.4.4 KitKat on your Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100H, you can use this guide to learn how to root the device. The method is relatively simple: download the iRoot tool and you’re away. We’ll go through the exact steps during the guide after the jump.

Rooting is your gateway to flashing custom recoveries, custom ROMs and downloading root-requiring applications from Google’s Play Store. However, google doesn’t recommend people root smartphones or Android tablets. This is not an official process by Google; rather it’s a collective effort by third-party developers who think we should have the right to the devices we pay for. It’s with that knowledge that you should understand the warranty is void after completing the guide. Google nor the OEM want to deal with your software-related issues if you should have any by stepping outside of the stock Android boundaries.

Troubleshooting:

Should you find yourself stuck in a boot loop of any kind, you can boot your Samsung smartphone to recovery mode. Do that by holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Now choose the wipe data/factory reset option from the recovery menu. Your device should boot fine in normal mode now. Just note that you do lose the data by applying any kind of hard reset. Therefore, you must backup the data before you applying the factory reset.
