Samsung officially released the Galaxy Edge in the last month, so if you are looking for a compatible rooting procedure, you ought to look no further than what we are using here with Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root package. We admire his work since it gives Android users an experience that’s close to stock Android. The system internals are open and away from the default factory restrictions just like any other. Furthermore, we know it’s one of the easiest methods possible. You will be out of here within five minutes if all goes to plan.
Being an official release by Chainfire, we know we can trust the source 100%. He’s releasing a different package for each Edge model number. All of them are working. The aforementioned file we have here is running on just under three and a half thousand mobiles as we speak. He’s also the same developers behind other work such as SuperSU and Triangle Away.
As you probably already know, gaining root access is about as unofficial as it gets. The following is not permitted by the folks out of mountain View, nor does it sit well with the manufacturers. Google always talk about wanting open devices but then they do a great job at patching up any security exploits found by Devs such as Chainfire. These are commonly found in OTA software updates. That said, the warranty is void by going ahead from here. You can unroot the handset and the warranty works once more. However, while it’s with the system internal unlocked there’s nobody who will fix anything that goes wrong.
Details of Note
- Enable the USB Debugging Mode option from hitting menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging and filling the box with a check-mark.
- Temporarily deactivate any security tools from the Windows-based PC and the Android smartphone. Both will affect the way the Odin tools responds.
- Only is made by Samsung developers who only look after Windows. Therefore, its paramount that you have a Windows PC running XP through to Windows 7 and Windows 8. Don’t try installing the files on a Mac since they don’t work. Additionally you will create problems.
- As I mentioned before, you want Windows. The type of computer is not so strict. You may use a notebook, laptop or full size desktop computer so long as it has a mounted USB slot in the side that’s working. That way we are connecting the smartphone with the computer.
- Backup the current ROM. Chainfire’s tools are designed so that you don’t automatically suffer from data loss. However, if something goes wrong one of the ways out of the mess is by pressing the factory reset button. That will reset the phone so that it’s exactly how it was coming out of the box with nothing on it including any of your contacts.
- Make sure you have the up-to-date USB Drivers operating on the computer for the phone. If you are connecting to the computer and accessing the mobile data from the drive you know it’s already working. Others can download them from the official Samsung website or use third-party direct links.
- Only follow the steps if you are an advanced Android user with some customizing experience. We are not to blame for any data loss or device damage. If you are inexperienced try finding a friend or family remember that can help.
- You ought to save up at least 50% battery power before starting the steps. You can check how much battery life you have remaining by turning the phone on and checking the battery icon from the stats bar.
- Backup the data by suing any number of application from the Google Play Store including helium for Android, SMS backup+, G Cloud backup, Titanium and more. With the aforementioned apps you can make copies of the phone contacts, market apps, text messages and more. others may prefer to sync the device with Samsung Kies. Kies is great for downloading the latest USB drivers too.
- Follow the steps below only using the SM-N915T and no other model number variant of the Edge. Each file is case-sensitive and you risk soft-bricking the smartphone if you install the wrong file.
- With all that out-of-the-way, you can now begin the proper steps for the guide. As I previously mentioned, you can find more tips at the bottom of the post about getting out of boot loops and verifying it works.
How to root the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge for T-Mobile Subscribers (SM-N915T)

Those of you experience a sticky boot loop must boot it up in recovery mode. Now you want to look for the “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition” options. Select them and go back to the main recovery screen where you select “reboot system now”. Moreover, you may wish to install the root checker app from Google Play and check out if it’s working.
