The Photos application is one of the few universal apps that comes to you preinstalled, no matter what version of Windows 10 you are running. It was intended as an updated and better version of the old Windows Photo Viewer app.

You should find that the old Windows Photo Viewer app is still available to choose from your list of available default Photo applications when you take a look from the Settings app. If it is not there, then there are also ways that you can go about getting it back again. You will find the Photos app available from the Microsoft Store should you ever delete it, as it is also an official Store app.

If you are using one of the latest Windows 10 software updates, you will notice a new feature that allows you to mark an image as a favorite. When you do that, the Photos app creates a new favorites folder for your computer.

If you are signed up to the skip ahead program, you will not be able to add images as favorites outside of the This PC\Pictures or OneDrive\Pictures folders. It is expected that eventually, Microsoft will make the change so that the favorites can be used the same way for everyone.

Here’s what you need to add favorites in the Photos application when you are using a version of the Windows 10 operating system.

How to Add/Remove Favorites in Photos in Windows 10

You can add pictures to your favorites list and remove them again in the Windows 10 Photos app with an image open in the Photos app. Here is how to do it:

1. Open the Photos app.

2. Select the image you would like to add as a favorite.

3. Above the image, click on the heart-shaped button.

4. Once you have clicked on the heart, it will add the image to your Favorites. To remove it from Favorites, click it again. You will notice the color changes each time you click the heart to signify when it is added and removed.

In conclusion, that is how to add/remove favorites in the Windows 10 Photos app.
