This ZMDMD1 firmware has rolled out to the China region over the air. If you receive this update, then you can get the latest Jelly Bean that is available for the galaxy Note 2. As usual, not everyone does get the update straight into the settings panel, so you will have to update manually by following this guide.

These 4.1.2 updates for the Note are our favorite. We like them better than the current ones that were brought out to the Smartphones like the Galaxy S2, which made its way to stores around the same time as this phablet. Basically, the reason for our view is that it can do more things and it’s better suited for a bigger device. For example, with the Note we can run multiple applications at the same time. If you were to get the same numbered update — but with a different build because they always have that — then you wouldn’t have this as an option at all. No matter what you are using, it will be liquid smooth. Even for the older devices like this one, it runs so much smoother than any previous standard 4.1 Jelly Bean update. You will notice this instantly when you browse. It doesn’t really matter what you are looking at, it will work.

Notifications also come as a multiple-window on the Note. This is another thing that makes it so great because you won’t see this on a smaller handset. For the most part they are similar, especially with how they manage to run better and have many fixes, but there is also the occasional feature like this here that makes it better.

This phablet also gives you a whole list of things that you can customize from the notification center. It’s another added onus you won’t find elsewhere. To see this, head over to the settings and then display and then look out for the notification area. It won’t have this as an option at all via the Galaxy S2.

It’s not a reason to necessarily go out any, but this product instead of the S2 if you haven’t yet purchased anything because it may well be coming in a future update to the handsets. As of today, though, there is no such thing so that’s something you can feel good about.

This is an official firmware update, so there is no real risk involved, or anything to learn other than what we show you. Having said that, make sure you do carry on with your normal back ups before proceeding so that you don’t encounter any problems. Firmware updates will not cause you to lose any data, it’s just for precautionary measures. Also, be aware that this will take away any customization you may have done to the device. Things look root access will need to be restored by following another guide for the updated version that you are now running on.

The fantastic Google Now will also be included here. Many people are still not adapting to using this which is a bit of a shame, but it may change as people start to get used to it. It’s the talking on the phone that they are a bit wary of. The good thing about Google Now is that when you ask the device for an answer, it will actually say the answer back to you so you don’t have to read it like you normally would. This is a great incentive to start talking I think.

Things you will need before you start:

– The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 S6500D USB drivers.

– USB debugging mode enabled

Last but not least, make sure you have adequate battery life left, because the last thing you want is for it to run out during the procedure. Juice it up as much as you can.

Update The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7108 To ZMDMD1 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Firmware

1. Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ZMDMD1.

2. Download the Odin 3.07.

3. Turn the Galaxy note off and boot it back up into download mode.

4. Extract the ODIN file and run it as an administrator.

5. Connect the Note to the computer via USB.

6. Now you’re going to have to extract the firmware zip, grab out the files and place them as follows:

On the right hand side of ODIN is some buttons. The first is Pit, however, leave it for now, and we will come back to it at the end. Instead, go to the next one called PDA. Here you need to install the code file.

The next button down the left is called Phone. Press it and upload the modem file.

Let’s keep moving down the list now and try the next button called CSC. Here you want to find the csc file and install it.

I mentioned earlier the pit file. Head back to the first button and press the pit bottom. Try and find a pit file. If it is inside, then use it here. If not, then leave it out.

If you did find the pit, you will then need to look on the left hand side of Odin for some smaller boxes. Here you should check the box called re-partition.

Check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes also.

Click on the big start button and it will begin working its magic. It will reboot when it’s complete, and the new ZMDMD1 firmware will be on it.
