If you bought your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge smartphone from the Australian Shores and are still residing in the same continent, you are finding a new Android 5.0.1 Lollipop over the air update arriving to your display. Once it’s there users can tap on the ‘download’, followed by ‘install now’ option on the screen to update your operating system with the latest available Android software. The new firmware build comes with the PDA N915GXXU1BOB7 and CSC N915GXSA1BOB7.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is the original update which comes with heaps of features including Android RunTime replacing the Dalvik, a new Easter Egg that plays like Flappy Bird, Android Beam, camera feature updates, Google security updates, smarter notifications with several new notification features, new battery saver mode and more. Some of the extra features which you should see include multiple device compatibility, the new material design user interface with the material design app drawer, pick up songs, apps and other tasks where you left off, tap and go NFC payments, new Quick Settings and still more. You’ll also get a much smoother ROM experience compared with the older Android KitKat software update.

Since all the aforementioned features are already patched in the original update, the 5.0.1 version doesn’t come with many features. Instead it comes with a lot of bug fixes and performance enhancements. The addition of bug fixes means that it is in many respects the better upgrade to have over the original. You’ll continue to keep future updates which keep addressing bug fixes such as the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

All over the air notifications arrive at different times for all owners. Some people already started finding the OTA notification today while others won’t find it until well into next week. There’s no specific timetable given by Sammy on when the roll out finishes.

Those of you who do not want to wait for the OTA signals can flash the same file manually thanks to the Sam Mobile link available here. You already know what to do from here: have the Odin application running on your Windows computer and boot the Sammy Edge in Download Mode. Now connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable and wait for the Odin port to change blue. Now click the AP button and upload the official firmware file. Do not check the re-partition box. you can find further instructions from down below the official link on the Sam Mobile page.
