The Big red are in the midst of rolling out several new software update over the air. The one we have here is build number 23.0.E.1.44 which is arriving for the Verizon Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone. As you might know, that means that only subscribers to the Verizon phone carrier network and finding this new installment. No other carriers should be checking for a notification. You can usually find out who you are a subscriber to by identifying the brand stamp on the back cover.

The new 23.0.E.1.44 software version which you can view from the official changelog and support page here is bring Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The traditional 4.4.4 update comes with OpenSLL security patches from Google and a revamped phone dialer. Correspondingly, the new version of 4.4.4 we have here comes with ten new features and enhancements.

Xperia Z3

Inside users will have a feature for reducing mobile notifications during phone calls, easier access to email notification settings, LifeLog updates, LifeLog notification updates for more instructions, better NFC, HD video playback for Google Play movies, modified group MMS messages, font size and layout improvements and optimization coming for email which should result in less data used from your mobile data plan. There’s a few sneaky words in their that might result in being nothing more than carrier bloatware adjustments such as the “layout.” That said, there is also a few features which are up for grabs to make your experience better until you upgrade to the next batch of software in the weeks or months ahead.

Interestingly, there’s still no Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Z3 on the Big red, so it won’t be too long until the Lollipop does eventually find it’s away to devices notification panels. To check when this installment arrives for you navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Updates and check if it’s ready. You should get the automatic notification coming to the devices display when it’s available so you don’t have to keep checking manually.

Those erring on the side of caution should take the time to back up. Research how the built-in back functionality works or download and install third-party application to help in storing your phone contacts and pictures.

Don’t forget that all over the air (OTA) updates roll out to devices in different periods, which means there’s no exact estimated time of arrival for you. However, we can tell you that the software update is already finding its way to devices and it will find everyone within the next few weeks.
