If you are using the Sony Xperia C3 or the C3 Dual SIM variant, you should keep your eyes on the notification panel as a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update with the build umber 19.2.1.A.0.72 is rolling out OTA for you. Over the air updates usually find their way to the Sony “update center” app where you can accept it that way. Sometimes we witness firmware updates come to the PC companion or support tool. However, the support tool makes you download all the firmware and not just the new OTA file, so the file can be double in size. Those preferring to reduce the amount of data should prefer using the over the air method.
As usual, all OTA’s roll out to devices in stages, meaning nobody knows who is getting them first. You may beat your friends or they may beat you to the new goodies. The 19.2.1.A.0.72 build is rolling out to all regions with the C3 devices, so we are expecting loads of people updating. Those preferring to skip the waiting line can use this Google Drive link for installing the file manually using the Flash Tool.
We already know Android 4.4.2 KitKat for being the main KitKat update that comes with the most features a part from the original 4.4 upgrade over Jelly Bean. Inside users have wireless printing, new color moji, new location menu, white and transparent status and navigational bars, new album art available from the lock screen in full screen, revamped keyboard, smoother and faster ROM, plus more. From there the device manufacturer and phone carriers release smaller updates to the same number. The smaller updates usually come with bug fixes and performance enhancements unless they are incorporating some 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 features into the same 4.4.2 KitKat number.
Anyhow, let us know what you are finding in your software update so the other readers know what’s in store for them. We always appreciate comments!
Those preferring to err on the side of caution should backup the existing data on the phones. That way if you are forced into applying a factory reset, you still have data for restoring. You can try Helium for Android from the Google Play Store. Furthermore, if you are experiencing any problems after installing the official OTA release, you should try entering recovery mode and performing a factory reset.
