Files You Need

  1. Download the rooting package for your Redmi Note device from this page.
  2. You are choosing to void the Xiaomi warranty by rooting the Redmi Note smartphone and break away from the annoying factory restrictions.

Rooting the Xiaomi Redmi Note

  1. Do the flashing through the updater.
  2. Rename the rooting package to update.zip.
  3. Connect the Redmi Note to the computer and transfer the root package over to the root of the internal storage SD card.
  4. Flash the file using the flash updater.
  5. Upload your file from the updater user-interface and choose to flash the same on your device.
  6. Reboot your Redmi Note smartphone once it’s done.
  7. Download and run the Xiaomi security app.
  8. Head over to the Google Play Store and download the SuperSU app.
  9. Tap and open the SuperSU app from the app drawer and agree to update the Superuser access if requested.

You should install the SuperSU on your Redmi device because it blocks any malware from automatically having root permissions to your internal system. All you need to do is make sure you block any apps that are malware when they request root permissions on your Redmi Note device. When you see an app request permission, always do a check on that app name and make sure it’s an app you know. Any apps you do not recognize as apps you have installed should not be granted the root access. Think of the SuperSU as your gatekeeper.

You can learn how to unroot the original Xiaomi Redmi Note smartphone if you want to return the device back to stock Android it was running out of the box. Doing so will mean you can no longer install any of the root-requiring apps, custom kernels or custom ROMs.

Likewise, those with the 4G variant can learn how to unroot the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G smartphone instead. The same rules apply: you cannot install any of the apps from the App Stores that need root access to rub. Additionally, you can no longer install the custom ROMs which require root access, or any of the custom kernels.
