Rooting your phone is not an official process and risky because it may brick your phone if not done properly. Rooting is not recommended by Google or OnePlus One and may voids your phones warranty and you can’t claim it back till your phone is rooted. But that is only one side of the coin, rooting also have some advantage, you can customize your phone at level and you can also boost your phone’s performance. You probably do not know that it is a risky process so backup all of your important data stored on your phone to any safe place so it won’t get wiped in this process. Sync all of your important contacts to your Google account, it will be safe there. Backup all your media files to your PC so if anything goes wrong then your data will be safe there.

All you need is a Windows-based PC, a USB cable and your phone with a custom recovery installed on it. On your phone enable USB debugging by going to settings > Developer options > check USB debugging check box. Also make sure to charge your phone to at least 70% battery so it won’t go off during the rooting process as it may brick your device.

Steps to root OnePlus One on CM 12S

  1. Download root package zip file from here on your PC, do not extract it because we have to use it as it is.
  2. Now connect your phone to your PC and transfer the root package to your phone.
  3. After the transfer’s done, unplug your phone from PC and reboot it to recovery mode.
  4. In recovery flash the root package by taping on Install > choose zip > select the root zip file downloaded earlier.
  5. After flashing reboot your phone to OS mode by taping on reboot > system.

After your phone boot to OS mode ensure root access by going to settings > Developer Options > check the Root access check box there. Your phone is now rooted and now you can customize your phones interface or tweak its performance. You can also check root access on your phone from here.
