If you’re the proud owner of the Nexus S, it’s time to celebrate. The brilliant Android smartphone has at long last received the official Nexus S update to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The role out of the Nexus S update is set to start today, with some lucky users even receiving it as early as last night.
The update has been given a warm reception by Android users who were left bitterly disappointed during the rollout of Androids 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich last year. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, Jelly Beans’ predecessor was a slow and segmented process that left users of Android devices confused and in the dark. Luckily Google has hit the mark with the latest Nexus S update, delivering it on time and as promised only a week after the Galaxy Nexus started receiving Jelly Bean.
The update is said to be the best of all Android operating systems to date. The user interface is much more polished with the icons receiving some minor tweaks, the lock screen has been updated to be somewhat funkier and the keyboard has received predictive text. The main buzz of excitement comes from new features such as Google Live, the innovative virtual assistant for Android, and Offline Maps which allow users to download specific maps from their WiFi or 3G connection to use at a later date even with no internet reception.
