The Samsung Galaxy Ace  now has new firmware available called  S5830XWKTS for all Android 2.3.6 devices. There are several reasons for this firmware update. The XWKTS update comes with a number of bug fixes and general improvements.

Although we are now seeing Android Jelly Bean ROMs, the Gingerbread variants of the past are still considered the beauty of today. The Gingerbread started at Android version 2.0 and 2.3.6 is possibly the best firmware to have on the ROM. There are other reasons why you would want the latest version on your Galaxy Ace also. To have this firmware on your Ace is said to be the preference firmware to be on if you suffer from a bricked device and are looking to recover it.

Update Galaxy Ace S5830 To XWKTS Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread

Step 1. Download the following files: Android 2.3.6 S5830XWKTS for Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and the Odin3 v1.85

Step 2. Extract both zip files from the downloads and place them on the desktop.

Step 3. Switch off the Galaxy Ace and make sure you wait compltely for it to be powered down.

Step 4. Power up the Galaxy Ace by putting it into download mode.

Step 5. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator and run the ODIN v1.85 you downloaded in step 1.

Step 6. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable it came with. Inside ODIN will show a show saying added if it’s hooked up properly.

Step 7. In this order, you will now have to select the extracted S5830XWKTS files inside ODIN:

– Select the PDA button and choose the .tar file that displays code in its name.

– Select the phone button and choose the file that displays modem in it.

– Select the CSC button and choose the file that says csc in it.

– Select the Pit button and choose the .pit file, ensuring that it is the correct .pit file downloaded in step 1.

Step 8. Take a look inside ODIN and ensure Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time and Re-partition boxes are checked if using the .pit file.

Step 9. Inside ODIN press start to begin the firmware update process. If it has been successful you will be greeted with a pass message on the screen.

If you are experiencing any kind of sticky issues put your device in Recovery mode.
