If you were ever a fan of the original hit game, Temple Run from Imangi Studios, you should be excited to hear about the long-awaited release of temple Run 2. In a anything but strange twist of events, for iOS users Temple Run 2 has been out for over a week now, with Android lagging behind; only releasing their version today.

Not only is Temple Run 2 available, but its available as a free download so there’s no reason not to get your mits into this one.

Being such a big hit the first time around, I’m slightly confused as to why this one is coming at the world for free. It hardly needs a promo, and shouldn’t be lacking quality. I guess you will have to find this answer out for yourselves.

To give you an idea just how popular the original temple Run was, it amassed over 170 million downloads from the Google Play store alone.

Here is an excerpt taken from TrustedReviews on what you can expect from the new game:

The goal is still the same, of course. Your intrepid adventurer must escape from a temple with a cursed idol, Indiana Jones-style. This involves tilting your handset left and right to dodge and swiping up and down to jump and duck over/under obstacles.

You’ll find fresh additions to the playable character roster, and each has a special power to help with their progress.

That’s iOS sorted, then, but what about Android users? Whilst it’s not available just yet, Polygon reports that Temple Run 2 should be making its way over to Android as early as next week.

Apparently the game has been made on the Unity platform, which makes such swift ports easy. It also means that the game should be far more smooth and stable for the majority of players – some Android users experienced technical issues when running the original.
