One of our favorite mobile phone websites, PhoneArena, has had some photos sent in by a loyal reader showcasing the alleged Galaxy S5 prime. Now as an avid reader of PhoneArena I can inform you that it is no Evleaks when it comes to tip-offs as they are much more news based than focused solely on device leaks. However, being the big publisher than they are there’s a great chance of these shots being genuine.

I won’t drill the idea of the Prime being real like I was towards the start of the year because now it’s all, but sure to be coming. It’s just the finer details we don’t know yet like what is happening under the hood. The LG G3 left the door wide open and gave a chance for this prime to have a Snapdragon 805 SoC, but we don’t know if they’ll take the opportunity to release it with one.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime

Anyhow, this post if centered around what is happening on the outside and not under the hood so lets take a closer inspection at what we are seeing. We’ve just included the one picture in this post and linked to an additional two on the source page. That website gets on my nerve the way they don’t allow others to save and share the image (even with a big brand stamped on the images), and that annoys me, but there is zilch we can do about it.

The preeminent thing you will discern is the dimple effect still present on the new S5. That is worth noting considering the sacking of the head of design team from Samsung due to many people disliking the look of it. It appears as though Samsung are going to see it through at least 1 full year looking like this and from what I can see in the comments that don’t seem like a good idea. Many people consider this Primed S5 to be looking very ugly indeed and although it was intended to come with groundbreaking technology, from an appearance standpoint it looks like it is regressing and going back in time. That is not a real thing. We are expecting technology involved being the main selling point here though and that involved the Quad HD display that we rival the G3. It also has a metal casing instead of the plastic used for the original S5.

If rumors are right, the new Prime S5 will come with Android 4.4.3 Kitkat and an aluminium body. It has a physical size of 5.1-inches, a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, pixel density of 576 ppi, a multi-touch touch screen with light sensors and proximity censoring. The camera is a rear-facing 16 megapixel snapper, and it has LED and face detection. The front-facing shooter will only be 2-megapixels. The system chip is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, and the processor is a Quad core, 2457 MHz. The graphic processor is Adreno 420, and the system memory is 3072 MB RAM. It is united with 32 GB of built-in storage space, but 10 GB of that is used up by the Android OS and additional apps and software. It will feature many of the usual internet browsing options including YouTube, Picasa and Google + for social networking. Connectivity will boast Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, USB 2.0, USB charging, and it is a USB Mass Storage device. It also comes with an extraordinary number of voice-based features including voice dialing, voice commands and voice recording.

We are anticipating the prime variant releasing come time during this month of June. Although these pictures look about as official as it can get there’s still lots, we don’t know until the official unveiling of the product later this month. For all we know it’s real name might not even be S5 at all, and there are still people out there who are refusing to not call it the Galaxy F smartphone. We wrote a piece on why we thought it would be the Galaxy F not long ago, but shortly after that idea was swayed away toward the S series name once more.
