The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 started off with Android 4.3 TouchWiz UI and was then updated to Android 4.4.2. Now it has just witnessed another update, this time to version XXUCND3. It is still apart of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is still making its way OTA to many owners notifications as we speak.

If you don’t want to wait or if you don’t see it because over the air updates don’t come to you then you can follow this guide to install it manually. If you are a regular with this thing then you already know the drill and we don’t mind if you skip top the files and do it yourself. However, if this is your first time or if you don’t remember exactly the process then it is in your best interest to have a good read over what we say here. It will ensure you don’t make any mistakes so the device won’t be harmed by doing so. It will also help with you retaining everything you have on the device without any data going missing. Lastly, we list everything that is needed so you have no hassles getting the job done.

Note 10.1 KitKat

Details of Note

  • I will list this first so that way you waist no time. It requires a Windows PC to do this update because Odin, the tool officially developed by Samsung developers, is only made for the Windows OS. If you only own a Mac or Ubuntu-based machine then seek a friend. All up this will take roughly 10 minutes give or take and then you can leave their house again. If that is not possible for you then don’t bother continuing past this step today and come back next time when it is available.
  • This file is for the Note 10.1 model numbered P600 only. Most boxes come with a number on it or check the device casing. Go into Settings > About Phone and check the model number if that doesn’t work. It should match up with P600 otherwise you are looking at the wrong guide. It is the 2014 edition and WiFi only.
  • It is no predicted or expected to lose any data from installing official firmware updates. However, stranger things have happened and on rare occasions the odd user is unlucky enough to experience data loss. In order to fully prevent and protect yourself from this happening to you we need you to backup the device to internal memory space. The Note 10.1 comes with 16 GB of built-in storage space. If you have run out and don’t wish to delete any photos, video or music that is taking up space then buy the extra microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC up to 64 GB from the shops. It doesn’t need that much because it will be more than many can afford. It is just the maximum amount. You should find anywhere from 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 Gb external options to buy. Just be careful with your choice because they all have different numbered associated with devices so shopping online at websites like eBay is often tricky. Instead, go into your local retailer if you need advice.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode by navigating to Settings > Develop Options and turning on the USB Debugging mode by tapping on the box and inserting a “tick” mark.
  • As you know, these installations can be very specific and in this instance it is again. We want to be running XXUCND3 KitKat and no custom ROM before starting. You can install the custom stuff afterwards when this finishes but not beforehand.
  • Temporarily disable any security programs on the Android tablet such as antivirus so that they don’t interfere with what we are doing here. Just remember to turn it back on again before you start browsing the internet to stay protected. We are not worried about security now because all we are using is one file and one program, both of which we fully trust as legitimate sources.
  • Download and install the up to date Samsung Galaxy Tab USB drivers. The link given is for XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8. Back in the day there were different drivers for each device. However, in today’s world the Sammy developers have cleverly managed to have the same drivers for all devices. There are many sources for drivers including the official Samsung website itself, plus mirrors and other places like File-gator. It doesn’t matter where you get them from because they are all signed off just the same.
  • We have years of experiencing with creating help guides on subjects like rooting. We always know what we are talking about and strive to give readers the best and most accurate information humanly possible. With that being said nothing comes with a guarantee and as with all technology sometimes the craziest unpredictable things can happen. Such is life in the technological world and we are not liable for any loss of data or wrong doing by your device. When you choose to follow this guide that we offer that means it’s on your own shoulders and not ours.
