If you enjoy customizing the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone, you most likely will need to continually boot your device into these different modes they have available before you get stuck into a guide that lets you install a kernel, ROM, root or custom recovery. These modes are usually booted using a hardware button combination and those same combinations are never easy because if they were, then we would be pressing the buttons by accident all the time. That presents a big problem: the guides are never as easy as we’d like.

The solution to that problem is to install the Quick Boot application so you can bypass having to press those annoying hardware key combinations all together. The Quick Boot application will quickly boot to any of the modes you need with just one tap of a button after you open the app. It’s one of the most popular root apps for Android as we head into the middle part of 2016 and will likely stay that way in the future. The Quick Boot app is only available if you have rooted the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone, so let’s see how it’s done.

Files You Need

  1. Download the CF-Auto-Root file for the Galaxy A8 SM-A800F running Android 5.1.1.
  2. You can be running any firmware build number when you use this guide so long as your Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone is running on Android 5.1.1.
  3. You should only use this guide on the SM-A800F model number version of the Galaxy A8 smartphone. You can check out the model number of your A8 by pointing to the Settings > About Device > Model Number.

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy A8 SM-A800F running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

  1. Enable the USB Debugging Mode on the Galaxy A8 smartphone so it can connect to the computer with the USB cable and be detected by the flashing tool.
  2. Extract the rooting and Odin files to the desktop of the computer.
  3. Right-click on the Odin executable file and choose to run it as an administrator.
  4. Do not make any changes from the Odin flashing tool’s user interface and its default settings.
  5. Boot the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone to download mode and connect it to the computer with the USB cable.
  6. Look for the blue or yellow ID: COM port coming from the Odin app to let you know that your drivers are working and the Galaxy A8 smartphone is connected. Any device without the colored ID: COM port will need to install the universal Windows ADB driver and try again.
  7. Click the AP button and browse the desktop for the rooting file you extracted earlier. (Make sure you do not extract the file a second time or else it will not work. You just extract the rooting file to begin with until you see the Odin and tar.md5 pop out and then it’s ready).
  8. Click the Start button and Odin will now flash the rooting file on your device, installing and enabling the SuperSU on your device.
  9. The Samsung Galaxy A8 SM-A800F smartphone will now reboot to recovery mode automatically once the flashing is complete. It needs to do that before your device will be rooted properly.

In conclusion, that’s how to root the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update. Any Galaxy A8 smartphone that did not automatically reboot to the recovery mode will need to be booted to the recovery mode manually instead.

If your Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone made it to recovery and has the drivers working but is still not getting rooted, try installing a different version of the Odin flashing tool. The Odin application for Windows PCs comes in a few different versions and sometimes it requires a different download to work.
