  • Before you begin, you will need to make sure you have the Huawei USB drivers. It is possible you have this already if you use the device regularly, in which case you can skip this step. This is necessary to connect the device to the computer.

Please note: Rooting your devices voids the warranty, so proceed at your own risk. Also ensure you have at least half battery life on your device to complete the process.

How to Root Huawei U8160 Using SuperOneClick (Vodafone SMART)

Step 1. First you will need to download the following:

Step 2. Once you have downloaded the SuperOneClick archive you will need to place it on your desktop. Then extract the files from the archive to your desktop.

Step 3. At this stage you need to ensure that USB debugging  is switched on. To achieve this go to ‘Menu’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB debugging’ and ensure it is switched to ‘On’.

Step 4. Now, using the USB cable, connect your device to your PC.

Step 5. Double click on the executable file to launch the SuperOneClick tool.

Step 6. The main interface of the SuperOneClick tool will appear and you will need to select ‘Root’.

Step 7. Wait while the tool inserts both the Superuser and Busybox apps onto your Huawei U8160.

Step 8. Once root access has been achieved on your device it will reboot.
