We have a detailed guide below which will see you on your way. Unfortunately for those users who already owned a rooted HTC XL One before the latest installment of firmware was released, they will have lost root access. This easy one-click guide will have you rooting your HTC XL One in no time.
Notes:
- You will also need to have USB debugging mode enabled in order to complete this guide. This helps to connect your Android phone with the PC.
- You will need to make sure you have the HTC USB drivers. This is necessary for when you connect the device to the computer. You have to connect it to the computer in order to root the device.
- As with all tutorials, please back up your device before you begin and proceed at your own risk. ConsumingTech will not take responsibility for any loss of data or damage which may occur during the guide. Also note that this guide has been designed specifically for the HTC XL One running Firmware version 1.85.
Please note before you begin the guide:
- This guide has been designed using a PC running Windows
- Ensure that you have a minimum of 60% battery life on your device
- You will need to temporarily deactivate the Firewall on both PC and device before starting
Rooting the HTC XL One 1.85 Latest Firmware
Step 1. Start by downloading the following package and putting it somewhere easy to locate such as your desktop:
- 185 Root Script Zip HERE
Step 2. You will need to enable USB debugging on your device if not already done. To achieve this, simply go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB Debugging’then enable.
Step 3. Extract files from the 185_root_script.zip file downloaded in step 1 and ensure you have all the following:
- adb
- adbWinApi.dll,
- adbWinUsbApi.dll
- busybox
- magic.sh
- root
- su
- Superuser.apk
If for any reason you do not have them all, you will need to go back to step 1 and re download the zip.
Step 4. At this stage you will need to disable fastboot on your device. Do this from ‘Settings’ and ‘Power Menu’.
Step 5. Using the USB cable, connect your device to your PC.
Step 6. From the files you downloaded in step 1 you will need to run the root.bat file by double clicking on it. This will begin the rooting process.
You should now be able to enjoy all the benefits of having a liberated device such as installing custom ROMs , install great apps and apply unofficial updates.
