I want to have the Narrator in Windows 10 read by sentences, so it does not keep reading once one full sentence is completed. Resolution:
All versions of the Windows 10 operating system come with a built-in narrator that is available for you to use without downloading or installing anything extra.
When the Narrator is reading text on the computer’s display, it will typically keep reading until you manually choose to stop it. However, there are some hotkey combinations you can use to customize your experience with the Narrator a little more. One of the ways you can customize it is by choosing for the Narrator to only read one sentence before automatically stopping.
For more information, see Complete guide to Narrator and scroll down to the What’s New section if you want more information directly from Microsoft regarding the Read by sentence feature the Narrator has.
The following tutorial demonstrates how to read sentences in Narrator when you are using a version of the Windows 10 operating system.
Method One: How to Read by Sentence in Narrator
You can use hotkey combinations to read the current, next, and previous sentences in Narrator. Here is how you can do that:
1. Turn on the Narrator by opening the Settings app, clicking on Ease of Access from the main Windows Settings menu, clicking Narrator from the left menu and then clicking on the Use Narrator to read and interact with your device toggle.
2. When reading, turning the Narrator on is done by computer keyboard shortcuts. Press the Caps + Ctrl + Period combination to read the next sentence, press Caps + Ctrl + Comma to read the current sentence, or press Caps + Ctrl + M to read the previous sentence.
Method Two: How to Read by Sentence Using Narrator View
The Narrator comes in many different views. They include characters, words, lines, paragraphs, headings, links, form fields, tables, landmarks, and suggestions. You can also use hotkey combinations to scroll through sentences with the Narrator when you are using Narrator View.
1. Turn on the Narrator by opening the Settings app, clicking on Ease of Access from the main Windows Settings menu, clicking Narrator from the left menu and then clicking on the Use Narrator to read and interact with your device toggle.
2. Press the Caps + Page Up or Caps + Page Down to scroll through the sentences and hear the ones you want to hear.
That’s all.
