If you are the proud owner of the Sony Xperia T3 smartphone with the model numbers D510X, D5103 and D5106, you should keep your eyes open for a system notification for a new software update. The build number is 18.1.A.2.25. The HSPA+ D5102 model number has the same build number coming. We haven’t seen any software updates for the T3 for a couple of months. It now stands on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Since all the important features were patched already including white status and navigation panels, immersive mode, landscape keyboard enhancements, full screen movie art from the lock screen, wireless cloud printing, new Easter Egg and new location menu, we do not predict future updates to come with anything more than bug fixes. A few more features come with Android 4.4.3 and an important security fix for OpenSSL that comes with Android 4.4.4.

Accepting the file is easy. Since most Android smartphones and tablets get automatic over the air software updates coming in as a notification, all you have to do is tap the “download,” followed by “install now” option on the phones display. The Sony brand have a dedicated app that makes it easier known as the Update center.

As you probably know already, just because the new build number is receiving certification by the PTCRB doesn’t necessarily mean it’s coming out. Sometimes they never see the light of day. However, reports suggest that there’s a great chance we see this one coming. Furthermore, the same reports are hinting it might be the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat update but nothing is confirmed. It likely won’t be either until we see the first batch of phones installing the update. You’ll see what’s available from the notification before accepting the installation. If it is 4.4.4 KitKat you can expect a revamped phone dialer with a new font and shade of blue, plus a bunch of changes that make it a smoother and faster ROM.

Those erring on the side of caution had better backup the data before starting the installation when it arrives. Test the built-in backup options from the device or download and install apps readily available from the Google Play store. Helium is a popular choice this year by a great deal of Android users.
