If you are the owner of the Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone, you should keep an eye on the notifications panel, as a new 23.0.1.A.5.73 firmware build is rolling out in your direction. The new software update is coming OTA, so the message is coming in alerting you of its arrival. From there you know the drill: tap “download” and then “install” to start running the latest update. The aforementioned build number comes on the same Android 4.4.4 KitKat name.

The update is for the D6603 model. You can always check the model number of your device by navigating to the “Settings” followed by “About Device.” The firmware comes with no change-log and is a surprise release. We don’t know what’s inside. We know there are bug fixes as usual, and likely other enhancements to the OS, making it greater than the earlier 23.0.A.2.93 build number. Apart from that we can’t comment on extra features yet.

As always, you want the WiFi connection for installing and not the mobile data to avoid unwanted data charges. Moreover, data traffic provides a less stable connection, therefore you want the WiFi to avoid the network traffic. A great deal of others will be downloading and installing the same update as you.

Because the Z3 already comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4.4 Kitkat out of the box, owners are already familiar with all the goodies such as white status bar icons for a better KitKat feel, wireless printing, new Emoji faces, full screen album art from the locks screen and new location menu. The last stages of Kitkat are addressing improvements for the OS.

Are you using the latest iteration already? What changes have you noticed? Please let us know in the comments if you are noticing any new features.
