AT&T subscribers who own the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will want to keep their phones within reach over the next few days as the phone carrier network is rolling out an original Android 4.4.4 KitKat update over the air with the build number of N900AUCUDNJ5. It’s a build you ought to be excited about since it arrives with Kids Mode, Safety Assistance, Side Sync 3.0, Knox 2.0, Camera improvements and a list of bug fixes and enhancements making the new version of the OS better than the last.

Usually we don’t see many features coming for the last stages of Android KitKat on the Android 4.4.4 number since most of the features were patched in the earlier Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. In the last few days we’ve seen Sammy confirm Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Note 3 and that’s great news for everybody. However, no exact date is set for its arrival, so it will be all in due time. After arriving, users have the new Material Design UI and at least five other key features including a newfangled battery saving mode.

Since 5.0 Lollipop is coming soon, we don’t expect a great deal of software updates in the mean time. That’s why you want to upgrade and make the most of this version while it counts. We appreciate other carriers are rolling out the Knox 2.0 as the highlight feature of this “value pack.”

The OTA is arriving as a system notification and the phone automatically pings you when’s its ready. It comes at different times for everyone so some are more lucky than others. As always, it’s best to install the file using a WiFi connection and avoiding the data charges. Furthermore, you skip the high network traffic from others downloading the same update as you. High traffic results in a less stable connection and that means factory resets if something goes wrong. Those with no WiFi options ought to back up the sensitive data before attempting the installation.
