A few of the US-based carrier networks are rolling out fresh KitKat updates since Christmas. Today the Sprint network is releasing a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. You should keep your eyes peeled on the notifications if you are a subscriber to the Sprint phone carrier network because it’s coming your way sometime between now and the next few weeks. The build number for this installment is L900VPUCNK2. It follows on from the earlier L900VPUCNE2 build number.

The new over the air software update comes with Google security patches. Nothing else is listed on the official support page and change log you can read here. Moreover, it’s the first update we’ve seen for this device from Sprint since May 29 of 2014. That’s a long time to see no updates. However, as you well know, the older the tablets and smartphone gets, the less updates they see.

Note 2

Since the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone isn’t finding the official Android 5.0 Lollipop update arriving yet, we certainly are not expecting the Note 2 finding it any time soon. That said, we are confident this device will have the Lollipop software update coming in the near future. Initial forecast were late January. That can still happen at this stage. However, it may come later and in the form of Android 5.0.1 or even 5.0.2 Lollipop.

For now this latest installment stays on KitKat and doesn’t come with any new feature to rant about. Those erring on the side of caution should backup the data if you have to apply a hard reset because the device freezes during the installation.

You already know 4.4.2 KitKat for bringing in features such as the wireless cloud printing, full screen album kart from the lock screen, landscape keyboard updates for typing, new digits displaying on the Easter Egg, immersive mode for applications, white status bar icons, white navigation bar icons and more.
