Maybe things didn’t go well after you flashed a custom ROM on your SM-T555? Maybe the root-requiring apps accidentally deleted a system file and now your device won’t boot-up? Either way, the following guide should help you.

Unrooting your device means you’re removing the root-access from your device by flashing back the stock ROM. A stock ROM is the complete and untouched operating system that has been developed by the manufacturer of your device. It only contains the tools that let you do limited customizations so that you don’t end-up bricking your device.

Whatever the case is, the guide below should help you unroot your Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (SM-T555):

Files You Need

  1. This tutorial should work whether you have used our root guide to root your device or used any other method gain root on your device.
  2. This should erase the data stored on your device. So please backup anything you think is important.
  3. Download and install Samsung USB drivers on your computer. They’re required for the tutorial to work.
  4. Download Odin to your computer. You’ll use it to flash stock ROM on your device.
  5. Download Stock ROM for the SM-T555 variant to your computer. It’s the whole operating system for your device.
  6. This tutorial only works for the SM-T555 device.

Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (SM-T555)

  1. Right-click on both Stock ROM and Odin and select Extract here to extract the compressed files.
  2. Launch Odin by double-clicking on Odin’s .exe file.
  3. When Odin launches, click on PDA and select Stock ROM available on your computer.
  4. Uncheck Repartition in the Odin.
  5. Checkmark Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time in the Odin.
  6. Turn off your device.
  7. Turn your device back on in download mode by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.
  8. Hit Volume UP when you see a warning message on your screen and you should reboot into download mode.
  9. Plug in your device to your computer using a USB cable.
  10. Hit Start in the Odin and wait for it to flash stock ROM on your device.
  11. When Odin’s done flashing the ROM, your device will automatically reboot.
  12. You’re done!

Your SM-T555 is now unrooted and is back to the stock ROM.
