The new Google TV is here already for the US and will be introduced to the rest of the world soon enough. Google’s first attempt was considered a flop but they have come back with vengeance with their latest version. It’s expected to be a hit and sales are already going strong.

One of the main features with smart TV’s and Google TV’s a like is the integration of apps. Apps are going to be a huge part of the future and devices are already starting to reflect that trend. Unfortunately many of your favorite apps won’t yet be available through your new technology television sets though. One of the downsides to arriving early and fawking out all that extra cash.

But, like many things in technology, while it may not be available on the surface, after a little scratching around it can be easily accessible. And that’s the case here also. The technique is called side loading apps and we’ll show you how to do it. This guide will show you how to side load apps on your Google TV.

Things to grab before starting:

  • Android Operating System 3.1 or above. (should cover everybody but if it doesn’t you will need to update this).
  • Access to the internet.

Next install some apps!

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser on your Google TV and then type in the following web address www.dropbox.com
  2. Once open click to Login using this username and password: username: gtvmarket@gmail.com password: GTV2011
  3. Once inside click on the  folder named APKs Confirmed for public GTV2.0.

You can download and install any app that is inside here. Once the file is downloaded all you have to do is hold down the home button on your Google TV remote and then visit notifications. Here you will find the file that you downloaded.
