As long as you are an experienced geek, you should root your Android operating system that is running on the Sony Xperia C4 smartphone so you can have full control over your internal system. Unchaining your internal system is always necessary for that because the OS comes locked out of the box.
The most popular reason for rooting your Android is to install more apps from the Google Play Store and other third-party sources. The best rooted apps list is always changing and ever-evolving as the years go by. Some names always remain at the top of everyone’s lists, like the Titanium Backup application which is now only great for backing up a device, but for removing the stock applications that are acting as bloatware too.
The Ad Block Plus application is something we dislike because we make a living from advertising. However, many people don’t have devices that can handle the page load stress ads create and prefer to run an ad blocker until they upgrade the device. For all those people, the Ad Block Plus is available for rooted users and works the best out of any application we have found.
Files You Need
- Download the Kingo Root application for the Xperia E4 on Android 5.1.1 from here.
- Rooting the Sony Xperia E4 smartphone will void the warranty. You can unroot the device at a later date and the Sony warranty should start working again. You can continually root and unroot as many times as you like and get the same results.
Rooting the Sony Xperia E4 running the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update
- Unlock the Developer Options menu on your Sony Xperia E4 smartphone if it’s locked by pointing to the Menu > Settings > About Device > Build Number 7 times.
- Enable the USB Debugging Mode on the Xperia E4 by pointing to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
- Extract the Kingo Root file to the desktop of your computer.
- Double-click the Kingo Root executable file and open the program so it’s running.
- Connect the Sony Xperia E4 to the computer with the USB cable.
- Wait for the Kingo Root application to automatically pick up your device and show it on the screen. It will say it is installing the drivers for your device and then give you a button to click for rooting at the end.
- Click the big ‘Root’ button on display at the bottom of the display.
- Watch as the progress bar eventually makes it to 100% and then gives you the root success message.
- Click the ‘Finish’ button and then your Sony Xperia E4 smartphone will reboot for you automatically.
In conclusion, that’s all you need to do to root the Sony Xperia E4 smartphone running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. We suggest finding a new method if the Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates rolls out. We do not expect this method to last forever, unless it doesn’t see any more large OTA updates. Further, never accept those OTA’s if they do come into your device as a notification. You want to unroot by flashing your stock ROM manually.
