These are the steps to root the Samsung Galaxy Core Max smartphone. Once you root the device, you can install applications like the AFWall+ app. The AFWall+ app is like having a firewall running for your Android.
You should find it uses up less juice than a traditional antivirus running on your device, plus it comes with the usual difference between having antivirus and a firewall.
Files You Need
- Download the Core Max rooting package from this page.
– you will find the rooting exploit and the Odin flashing tool inside after you extract the file. - Download the universal ADB drivers to your Windows computer.
– you must have a Windows PC to follow this guide or else it will not work. - Download another version of the Odin flashing tool from this page if you cannot get the guide to work using the original Odin that comes in your package. Sometimes it takes another version of the Odin tool for the guides to work on your device.
- You must have the Samsung Galaxy Core Max running Android 4.4.4 KitKat for you to root the device safely. Google might patch this exploit in future software updates. You can always visit the Sam Mobile website and download the Android 4.4.4 KitKat stock ROM and flash it on your device. Now root it using this guide.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Core Max
- You can only follow this guide on the SM-G5109 model number. You can check out your Galaxy Core Max model number by visiting the Menu > Settings > About Device and looking at the model on the display.
- Download the rooting package from the files section above and extract it to the desktop. Click and drag it from the default Downloads location over to the desktop of the computer.
- Right-click the mouse over the files and select the “extract here” option from the menu.
- You should see the Odin 3.07 executable and the rooting exploit inside. Double-click over that Odin executable file and the Odin flashing tool should open on your desktop.
- Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Core Max and reboot it in the download mode.
– reboot holding the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons to reboot the device. - Connect the Galaxy Core Max to the computer using the USB cable.
- The ID: COM port from the Odin user-interface should light up a color if your ADB drivers are working for your Samsung device. If not, make sure you install the drivers and try rebooting the computer. The drivers should work now.
- Click the PDA or the AP button from the Odin user-interface and upload the rooting exploit from the desktop.
– that’s the rooting exploit you see after extracting the file. - Leave the default Settings you get after downloading a fresh copy of the Odin flashing tool.
- Click the Start button and the Odin flashing tool will flash that rooting exploit on your Samsung Galaxy Core Max handset.
- Soon the Odin user-interface will give the pass message and the Core Max will reboot automatically. Reboot it manually if that does not happen.
- Open the Google Play Store app and download the root checker app on your device.
You can keep the Google Play Store open and start installing the root-requiring apps you have been waiting for. One we recommend to you to get things started is the Tasker app.
