With the HTC One release set to be under one day away now, what better time than to knock up the root guide for it, so it can be used as soon as you pick it up out of the box.

There is actually a couple of ways to get this done. The first way that was made by HTCDev member Hasoon2000 and it uses the all-in-one toolkit which lets you not only root the device, but also unlock the bootloader and flash custom recovery. However, after looking at his own words on the XDA thread, he seems a bit up tight about others providing a guide for that. The other way to get root access on your newly acclaimed HTC One device is by following the guide below using SuperSU.

HTC One

Files You Need

  1. Download the universal ADB Drivers for your Windows computer from this page.
  2. Download the SuperSU rooting files you need from this page.

How to Root HTC One

Step 1. Download the SuperSU Root Update SuperSU-v1.25.zip to the PC and copy the file over to the HTC One device using the SDcard.

Step 2. Power down the device and upon reboot put the device into recovery mode. To do this press on and volume up simultaneously  Hold it for 10 seconds until you see the recovery screen appear.

Step 3. Now that you are inside recovery, you need to use the volume keys to move down the screen. Stop where it says “flash zip from SDcard”. Once you have this option selected confirm it by pressing the power button.

Step 4. Work your way over to the file from step 1 called UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip file using the same keys for the same operation that you did previously.

This will now begin rooting your HTC One. Wait patiently for the process to complete. It may not reboot automatically. If it doesn’t, you will need to reboot it yourself. Upon reboot the HTC One will be rooted for you to enjoy.
