Rooting the Bluestacks 2 is done much the same way as you would root a smartphone using the KingRoot universal one-click rooting application. The only difference is how you go about getting that KingRoot app prepared to root your device.
The benefits of rooting the Bluestacks 2 are largely the same as rooting any other device: installing additional apps from numerous sources from around the web.
Files You Need
- Download the KingRoot APK you need to install on your computer to root the Android emulator.
- You are voiding the warranty of your Bluestacks Android emulator by following this guide. Android devices using the KingRoot app usually have the KingUser app available from the app drawer after installing the APK. That same KingUser app is usually the app that has the unroot button inside. Once you work out how to unroot the Bluestacks 2 using the KingUser app, you can start using that warranty again and send it away for repairs.
Rooting the Bluestacks 2
- Download the universal KingRoot one-click rooting app to your computer that has the Bluestacks emulator running.
- By default, this will end up in the Downloads folder on a Windows PC, so open that Downloads folder unless you have changed the default download location for your files.
- Click and drag and the APK over to the desktop of the computer.
- Right-click the mouse over the KingRoot APK file and select the “open with” option from the menu.
- Next, choose the “Bluestacks APK handler” option from the menu.
- It will start installing the KingRoot app automatically on your computer. Wait until you see the “KingRoot is now installed, open it and start rooting” message before continuing.
- Open the app and click on the button that suggest getting “Root” on the emulator.
- Wait until the rooting app tells you that your Bluestacks Android emulator is now rooted before closing the app.
You won’t have the luxury of using a root checker app from the Google Play Store this time as far as we can tell, but you can try installing your new apps and see if they work. We have seen owners of the Bluestacks 2 request the KingRoot team to root the device and the owners have posted a thread on an Android forum letting us know that the tool is now updated to root this device. You should have no problems getting this to work.
