As many of you know by now I’m sure, the 4.3 Jelly Bean has been released officially by Android. However, that doesn’t mean you will have received yours yet over the air, and that’s assuming it is coming your way.
If you have had enough of waiting around and want it on your Nexus Takju or Nexus Yakju then you can follow this guide. On top of that you can also go ahead and root it. Keep scrolling down the page to find out how that is done afterwards.
Details of Note
- This is for experienced users only. If you aren’t familiar with installations you will most likely find this confusing and run into trouble.
- This one can be done directly from the mobile phone itself if you want to just download the zip to it and then flash it from recovery. However, there will be other things you need:
- – Android SDK (with the latest fastboot and ADB installed)
– USB cable if executing adb and fastboot flash, as well as other commands. - You shouldn’t lose anything about data and personal information when following this guide, but we do recommend you backing it up just in case. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
- If you’re running Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 on the mobile now, and haven’t changed any system files then follow this method. However, if you have installed a custom ROM, or are getting errors of some sort, then go down to the next method.
How to Install and Root Android 4.3 JWR66V on Samsung Galaxy Nexus Takju and Yakju
1. Flash the update on the device via adb sideload.
2. Inside recovery will present you with a no command screen. Press volume up and power simultaneously to get the recovery menu up.
That is the simplest way, but it will not be for everybody. Here is the other way:
1. Grab the takju factory image or yakju factory image depending which device you want it for.
2. Follow this guide posted over at XDA to get the process done.
Now moving on to the root access:
With that finished you can now do this.
1. Flash the TWRP recovery into the device.
2. Then reboot it into recovery mode.
3. Flash to the latest version of SuperSu 1.43.
That’s all.
