If you are operating an LG device for the first time, you’ll probably notice that the boot sequence is a bit different as compared to other high-end flagships like Samsung, HTC, Sony etc. But, if you are familiar with LG devices, the process of entering recovery mode is like that of the previous LG smartphones.

Recovery is basically a separate small partition that exists side by side to your Android OS. It lets the users connect with the device on a whole new and deeper level. Once in the recovery mode, you can flash custom recoveries, ROMS kernel, wipe cache and data and upgrade/downgrade your device to a different OS. Hence, recovery mode lets you fully customize, optimized and personalize the device. You can also fix bugs, lags, boot loops and enhance the performance of on your phone by installing a dedicated app. You must probably be wondering that all this geeky stuff is risky. Well, to your surprise, it isn’t. The recovery environment and the act of accessing it, both are official. Hence, you won’t be voiding the warranty of the device in any sort.

LG G4

Here several ways to enter recovery mode on your LG G4.

Hardware Buttons:

The most easiest and seamless method. It is the most widely used methods also because the stuff that’s going around is in control.

  1. Shut down your LG G4 device. You can do that by pressing the power key and then selecting the “power off “option.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons both at the same time until the LG logo appears
  3. When the logo appears, release the buttons for about 1 seconds and then immediately press them down again.
  4. Recovery mode menu shall now be displayed. Use the Volume rockers to navigate and Power button to select.

Quick Boot App:

This method uses a dedicated app known as Quick Boot. Here’s how to do it. But for this, you need to make sure root access first.

  1. Open the Google Play Store
  2. In the search box, type “Quick Boot”
  3. Download the app. Install it.
  4. Fire up the app and follow the on-screen instructions to boot into recovery mode.
  5. Your device will now automatically reboot.

Android SDK & ADB:

The method is lengthy and a bit complicated from the others. You will need a PC and the phone’s USB cable. Also, you need to enable USB debugging option. For that, go to Settings>About Phone>Build Number. Tap on the Build Number option for seven to eight times. You are now granted the developer rights. Now go to the Developer Options under the Settings to enable USB debugging option. You also need to download and set up the necessary drivers. Click here
