The official CyanogenMod team has announced CM12.1 which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop. Not only does the new 5.1 Lollipop unofficial build come with an official changelog which you can read below, but they’ve also provided us with direct links to download for a number of devices. Below you will find links to various OEMs, including Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus and Google Nexus.

The team has announced there will be a further 17+ devices added to the list. When those download links become available, we’ll surely post those too. Some other brands you can expect to see added to the list include Sony Xperia handsets, the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E, other Google Nexus handsets, the LG G3 and more from Samsung.

The changelog includes more material design coming in 2012, Android 5.1 Lollipop, new CM file manager features, support for Android Wear wearable technology, new browser, new CM messaging and other apps are all updated to suit better the material design UI that started in Lollipop.

You should backup your devices before starting to install the files above. Use apps from Google Play like Titanium backup for those of you with root access already. Otherwise, check out how to take a Nandroid backup. A Nandroid will give you a mirror image of the current ROM. Furthermore, you’ll also want to update your USB drivers so you can connect to the computer and transfer files without any worries.
