The iPhone Dev Team have just released an update for the Redsn0w tool. The upgrade is a real beauty and most importantly lets users downgrade their iPhone 4s iPad 2 and also downgrade there iPad 3 to iOS 5.1. You can do the iPad 3 downgrade with the exact same help guide guys just to clarify any speculation. Check out the full tutorial after the feature. If you want to fully untethered Jailbreak your devices — which will be coming very soon — this downgrade is critical.

How to Downgrade iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1 For iPhone 4S, iPad 2 & iPad 3

Step 1. First things first, head over and grab the latest version of Redsn0w for either WIndows or Mac.

Step 2.  Once that’s done, connect your device of choice either iPhone 4S iPad 2 or iPad 3 to the computer (Windows or Mac) via your supplied USB cable.

Step 3.  You will now receive a welcome message from a pop up. On this pop up towards the bottom is two buttons. The second button is called Extras click on it.

Step 4. This will bring up another screen with a series of buttons. At the bottom of this screen a button will be called Even More click on it.

Step 5. Next screen at the bottom again is Restore click on it.

Step 6. Next screen has a button at the top called IPSW click on it and point Redsn0w to the firmware file that you want to downgrade. Please Note: if your blobs are saved locally or saved on Cydia then dont click IPSW instead follow the rest of this guide on the bottom of the page.

Here are the download links:

Once you’ve chosen Redsn0w will want your standard firmware which is iOS 5.1 and that’s it you’re done. Congratulations! You have just learnt how to Downgrade iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1 iPhone 4s iPad 2 iPad 3.

Saved Locally or Cydia continued here:

Locally-  Instead of clicking IPSW Click on the local button and point Redsn0w to the .plist file that have the SHSH blobs on your iDevice and your now done.

Cydia- Instead of clicking IPSW click on Remote. Redsn0w will now put your device into recovery mode and get the files automatically.
