The Motorola Moto Maxx is a new smartphone that probably has a name that’s too close to its other cousins under the Maxx name which is making it difficult to find in search engine results pages. That said, it’s not going to stop us producing the material for it since there’s so much to cover. Sometimes it’s best to stick with the smartphone basics and not the tricky custom recovery installments and flashing custom ROMs.

One of the easiest operation you can perform on the smartphone is the hard reset. There are usually two different types of resets you can apply to a smartphone. The first is a soft reset. With those, they work for probably that aren’t too serious. A hard reset is pretty much another way of saying a factory reset, except it’s not always done from inside the stock recovery mode. Often you can press a set of hard keys which will reset the device the ‘hard’ way. The harder reset will wipe the data and return the device back to its original state, just as if it were coming out of the box.

Moto Maxx

If you are reading the last sentence on the Moto Maxx, you’d understand that’s why it’s important to back up the data before starting the guide. Often people will not be so lucky because they’ll search for the guide after they are in trouble. We hope all those people regularly backup the data or at least install a third-party application from the Google Play store to run some automatic backups instead.

Apply The Hard Reset With Buttons Manually

  1. Turn on the smartphone.
  2. Find the menu button and tap the same.
  3. Now tap the “Settings” menu.
  4. Choose “Factory Data Reset” from the list of options.
  5. Tap the “reset Phone’ option from the next screen.
  6. Now sit and wait while the hardware is being wiped.
  7. The phone will eventually reboot and you’ll need to add your Google account details and set up the device from scratch.

Of course, as with most great phones, there is more than one way to reset that Moto Maxx Android device. We can also access the recovery mode and apply the factory reset which is essentially the same thing. Moreover, there are applications available from the Google Play Store which can also help. Just remember to limit the amount of apps you have on the phone because they take away from battery life and performance. There’s a reason why we call native apps and services from manufacturers and phone carrier networks bloatware.

Via The Stock Recovery

  1. Turn off the Maxx handset completely by holding on the ‘off’ button for 15 seconds.
  2. Enter the device in recovery mode from the boot process.
  3. Use the volume buttons from in recovery to navigate through the option on the menu.
  4. Stop when you hover over the “wipe data/factory reset” option.
tap the screen and follow the prompts to eventually apply the reset.
  5. You still have to go back to the main recovery menu and boot the device in normal mode. It won’t do that automatically.
  6. Notice the “reboot system now’ option from the main screen. That’s the one which enters you back to normal mode.

Using Applications From Google Play

  1. Turn on the phone.
  2. Navigate to the Google Play app or type the words in for a Google search.
  3. Open the store.
  4. Navigate to the apps sections.
  5. Type “factory reset Android Phone”.
  6. Tap on the app and confirm the installation.
  7. Wait for the icon to finish loading on your device and tap to open the same.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions for finishing.
