Corel AfterShot 3 is photo editing software that helps you learn professional-grade photo editing. Corel AfterShot 3 offers a simple photo management interface that will help save you time. It also comes with powerful batch processing.
WHAT IT IS
Corel AfterShot 3 lets you enhance, correct, and adjust photos that didn’t come out as perfectly as you imagined the first time when you took them.
Pros:
- Concise interface that does not jam too much in the one space
- Easy navigation to locate all features
- Original and useful settings located beneath the image
Cons:
- I found it difficult trying to delete an image and upload a different one
- The self-promoted ad in the bottom left corner of the interface is unnecessary
DESCRIPTION
The Corel AfterShot 3 interface had a left menu called Directory Overview that let me scroll through the equivalent of File Explorer on my Windows computer and select an image from my hard drive. Instantly, I was impressed with this because it brought up some of my baseball cards and displayed them on its interface before I had chosen to upload them which helped preview the files easier so I knew which ones I wanted to select. Being able to see my baseball card pictures rather than just the file names before uploading them to the photo editor is not a standard feature I usually see. I played around with the quick settings available beneath the image file (baseball card in my case) and was easily able to rotate the image, zoom it in and out, deploy the blemish remover, and so on. There was also a right menu with Basic Adjustments available consisting of features such as contrast, saturation, vibrance, hue, and even the chance to adjust the sharpness which I thought was valuable (sometimes the chance to adjust the sharpness is one of the main features of a photo editing tool). I also noticed an additional menu to the right of the Basic Adjustments menu. By default, it was set to Standard which makes sense. There were also Details and Metadata tabs I could select. These menus were interesting because as much as I loved the original interface, it did feel a few features short of some of the more advanced photo editing tools I had used. However, the extras were tucked away in here. I don’t think that Corel AfterShot 3 lacks features compared to the best and arguably the idea of limiting the main settings to not show all features made the general editing experience better because most people like me who aren’t advanced photo editors can feel overwhelmed when all features are compressed into the one space.
CONCLUSION AND DOWNLOAD LINK
I like Corel as a company. I was able to register with them without having to receive promotions etc when I tested this tool which was appreciated. I thought Corel AfterShot 3 was very innovative and easy to use. My positive thoughts began as soon as I opened it and used the Directory View to search through my files because it showed me pictures of what the files looked like which made it easy to see what I wanted to select. Moreover, the tools to begin editing the image file I uploaded were also impressive. Beneath the image that I uploaded had numerous editing options that I didn’t find with other photo editing tools that helped me drag, rotate, and adjust the image saturation very easily indeed. It also gave access to more advanced features such as the blemish remover. You could easily see the feature named by hovering the mouse over them just in case you didn’t recognizethem by their icons. One feature I really liked was the red eye remover. Though it’s not as common to find on an image nowadays, if you do have red eyes in the images, you can easily remove them with this tool by using a dedicated button beneath the image you upload. If I were to compare it to another editing tool, it would be VSDC Pro Video Editor 9.2.6.579; however, that is a video editor and not a photo editor.
