One of the most gratifying features of using the Cortana virtual assistant is that she will call you by your name. And in case you were to ever have a name change or feel like being called something different, you can indeed change the name Cortana will refer to you as when you use her in Windows 10.
The following tutorial demonstrates how to change the name Cortana uses for you when you use a version of the Windows 10 operating system.
How to Change Name Cortana Uses for You in Windows 10
You can change the name Cortana uses when she refers to you in the Notebook section of the Cortana app. Here is how to do that:
1. Click on the Cortana icon next to or within Search in the taskbar so the Cortana window opens.
2. Keeping the mouse hovered within Cortana, click on the Notebook icon on the left side and then click on the email address which is a link.
3. Click on Change my name.
4. Under the field where it says What would you like me to call you, enter the name you would like Cortana to use.
Note: You can click on the Play button to hear how it sounds when Cortana says your name. And if you don’t like how it sounds, you can instead teach her how to pronounce it differently in the following step.
5. If you are happy with the result, click on the Sounds good button at the bottom of the Cortana window. On the other hand, if the name doesn’t sound quite wrong, you can click on the That’s wrong button and then using the microphone, teach her how to pronounce it to your taste.
In conclusion, that is how to change the name Cortana uses for you in Windows 10.
