The Nubia Z9 from ZTE is still a very new smartphone, so when it comes to custom ROMs, there aren’t many to choose. The Z9 series itself is a popular one, and we expect more ROMs to become available in the future.
Files You Need
- You need to root the ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini before you can install some of the custom ROMs on the device.
- You need to install a custom recovery on the ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini before you can start flashing any of the custom ROMs on the smartphone.
- You can choose to install Google Gapps if you want to run the Google stock apps — many custom ROMs do not come with these Google stock apps. Just upload the Gapps package the same way you load your ROM file in the custom recovery.
- Installing a new ROM over the Android operating system is always going to void the warranty arrangements you have with the manufacture. You will need to flash the stock ROM back on your device which should remove the custom ROM, root access and the custom recovery all in one shot.
Debloated Stock ROM
The stock ROM isn’t the real stock ROM but rather the same ROM you get on your device when you open it up out of the box, minus the stock apps from the phone carrier network. In addition to the pre-installed Chinese apps removed, you get root access along for the ride. As such, you obviously do not need to root your device before you install this stock ROM.
Features: debloated, no stock apps from the carrier, comes with root access for your new apps.
