If you want to go prepaid or on a plan subscribed with AT&T as a phone carrier, you can own the Samsung Galaxy Alpha starting from September 26, 2014 across the United States. The Alpha is the newfangled version of the Galaxy S5 flagship that debuted in February of this year. The original phone was met with mixed reviews and many Sammy fans have been longing for a more premium finish instead of just plastic. That’s where the all new ‘primed’ edition in the Alpha steps into play. It has a metal frame around the edges that give it a similar look to the iPhone 4S — if you can remember way back then.
The iPhone 4S will go down as one of the more beautiful smartphones in the fruit company range and it was Tim Cook, who stated that the metal edge was special because it got more beautiful with age after showing some wear and tear with scuff marks over the aluminium. Of course, CEO’s of giant technology-based companies will say just about anything to get you to buy a product and Apple have since gone on an entirely different direction. Nonetheless, the new Alpha looks a great deal better than that of its predecessor that was all plastic.
It doesn’t stop with the metal frame either. Inside you will find that the new hardware boasts a Exynos 5 5430 system chip SoC and a 8-core, 1800 MHz, ARM Cortex-A15 and ARM Cortex-A7 processor. That’s enough power to do some serious damage. In addition, it comes with 2048 MB RAM system memory. However, the downside is it lacks any external SD card storage and internally there’s 32 GB available.
One of the main perks with any Android-based handset is the option of expandable storage for those who love to keep a hold of their photos and video files. I know relying on the cloud has turned many people away from Apple as they have security issues and also struggle with knowing that what they are storing may download to a different device they don’t want it on such as their iPad. Anyhow, if you were in the market for Android, based on storage alone that’s something to think about before buying this smartphone.
AT&T are the only phone carrier to reap the rewards of selling this new handset since no other company has the rights for sales. The excellent news is that they offer fantastic phone coverage for most parts of the United States and are one of the largest companies operating within that space. The unscrupulous news is that perhaps Samsung were not expecting this handset to be as popular as we were led to believe.
