The new 23.0.1.F.0.96 OTA update keeps the same Android 4.4.4 KitKat number. Sadly, it’s still not the Android 5.0 Lollipop that many were expecting. Those of you erring on the side of caution should backup the existing data using an application of your choice. Moreover, you can use the built-in backup feature to store most of the data. You shouldn’t automatically lose data unless something goes wrong during the installation and the phone requires a hard reset.
Correspondingly, you should always installing the update from a stable home WiFi connection and avoid applying the file from the mobile data plan. By doing so, you are avoiding any unwanted data charges and the high traffic over the countries networks. Most phone carrier networks always prefer you sticking to the WiFi. If you aren’t backing up the data and making copies, that’s even more important.
