An innovative 23.0.1.A.1.43 firmware build is rolling out for the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z3 compact models in Singapore. The two phone carrier networks in Singapore that are receiving this update are Starhub and Singtel. The Sony Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3 series are all on the beta testing stages for Android 5.0 Lollipop, therefore don’t expect this firmware release to come with many features. A more likely scenario is involving bug fixes, security patches and other minor performance tweaks.

Starhub have the D6653 model number and Sinbtel have the D5833 model number, You can check what yours is by turning the device on and navigating to the Settings > About Phone and viewing the number that way. The 23.0.1.A.1.43 comes under the same Android 4.4.4 KitKat name as it did out of the box.

You should know that all firmware rolls out in phases, so some users will not be able to install the build right away. It can take several days until it reaches all people under the carriers in the country. Furthermore, once your phone becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you will notice a system update message coming in as a notification to the bar. Accept the installation if you are using a stable WiFi connection. Otherwise wait until you find WiFi instead of using the mobile data plan. You can update wirelessly by navigating your way to the Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check For Updates if this is a OTA release. Alternatively, you may wish to check the Sony PC Companion.

There is no official change-log for this installment and we don’t know the file size. If you are already using the newfangled build, please leave a comment and tell us what you are finding.
