We just finished writing up on the HSPA+ variant receiving a new 18.4.A.2.13 KitKat update and now it’s time to inform our readers of the associated LTE variants of the Sony Xperia E3 are receiving a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The build number for this update is 18.4.C.1.36 and it replaces the older 18.4.C.1.29 version. We suspect this update to hold much of the same features as the other E3 smartphone which is reportedly centered around bug fixes and an innovative power management option resulting in a longer lasting battery.
The D2202 variant has the software update available from the Sony PC companion application only and won’t see anything arrive OTA to the phones notification panel. That might happen here once again with the D2206 and the D2203 LTE variants. However, you should know that it doesn’t eliminate the chance of future OTA releases coming your way. You can always stopover at the Settings > About Phone > Software Updates and check for updates that way wireless.
It’s a great idea to back up the phone contacts, settings, market apps, videos, SMS texts and any other data you can think of so you don’t risk losing it. No data is lost automatically during official updates. However, we always recommend taking backups to stay on the safe side. Use apps such as helium for Android available from Google Play to help you sync the contacts and backup the apps.
