If you are the proud owners of the original Sony Xperia Z handsets you might want to keep an eye out for a new software update arriving to the devices notification panel. The new update comes with the firmware build number of 10.5.1.A.0.292. The aforementioned build comes with bug fixes and performance enhancements. No official change-log is released.

Since we already know KitKat for dishing out features such as white status bar icons, transparent stats and navigation bars, wireless printing, immersive mode, new location menu, color emoji support, full screen album art from the lock screen and movie art, we know the latter stages of KitKat don’t come with as many features.

Anyhow, many owners of the Xperia Z series are complaining about camera performance. There’s a chance that the new update does come with enhancements for the camera. Please let us know in the comments if you are using the new iteration already and what you are finding.

Owners of the Xperia ZL, ZR, tablet Z and the Xperia Z smartphone have this latest installment available to them. As you know, OTA’s rollout in phases to everyone, so you all get them at different times. You can always navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates and check if it’s ready for installing manually that way. Once your Xperia device becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you will notice a system update message in the notification area. Some updates arrive exclusively for the Sony PC Companion.
